Long before I got interested in animal training I was keeping water gardens. This
is my 5th pond--the only one I have now. It was the only one of the 5 that I did not dig with my own two hands and every
muscle in my body. This was dug several years ago by my sons who were pre-teens at the time.
My little garden grew wild during my preoccupation with graduate school, and it is a pleasure to be back
out there puttering, Knee Deep, again. (Knee Deep was the name of the column I wrote for Water Gardening Magazine for
some 11 years.)
My yard is now Certified Wildlife Habitat No. 83366.

| The pond is now stocked with feeder fish because - |

| This White Heron (aka Great Egret) ate every last one of my fantail goldfish in June 2007. |
| We love watching the Egret so that's okay. |

| All of this varigated vinca minor began as a flat of tiny plants about 5 years ago. |
| And more vinca... it's all around the pond. |

| A small frog fountain is tucked into the rocks. It's decorative only for now. |

| The Green Man came from my years doing ceramics. |

| I nearly wrecked my Mom's car getting Bufo... |

| He was being discarded along the street. You may have read about him in the old Knee Deep column. |

| These decoys are faded and dry docked- they never would float upright. |
| What is this plant? I don't know! |

| I planted some mixed seeds one year and this vine comes back in every year with my sagittaria. |
| A cement umbrella goes with this antique fountain. |

| It came from a historic Victorian house my cousins used to own in Greenville, Texas. |

| Here's a bit of the yard and garden across from the pond. |
| I just created this spill fountain. |

| I've had the terra cotta fish vase in this pond and one previous pond, used in different ways. |

| I expect algae or moss to grow on the fish- that should look cool. |

| In the Egret photo above the fish fountain had not been installed and was sitting next to the pond. |
